 Achnagal Creamery was established in 1977 in Cyprus by our father

Lefteris Eleftheriou. He had only just returned from his studies on
dairy products at Ioannina, Greece. As a farmstead cheese maker, he
produced Traditional Halloumi cheese and Kefalotyri cheese using a
small custom designed factory at the back yard of the house he grew
up in, with milk yielded from sheep and goats raised by the family
at the time. By 1980, the once small Achnagal factory had to move
to a bigger facility, because it was then that the company`s exports
of Halloumi cheese,Yoghurt Kefalotyri cheese first started,
specifically to the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
However, the Cyprus market has been the biggest drive for the Achnagal
Creamery, after the introduction of the first commercial halloumi
cheese produced from pure sheep milk in 1986. The ever increasing
popularity of Cyprus as a tourist destination increased the demand
for cheese and yoghurt significantly, and forced Achnagal to use cow
milk as well. The need to produce quality products and to differentiate
in the Cyprus market due to increased competition brought another
milestone in our family buisness, a separate, yet family-run Cattle
Farm, Eleftheriou Bros LTD company in Cyprus, of which the primary
purpose was and remains until today to produce clean and safe milk for
the needs of the Achnagal creamery.
 In addition to Achnagal creamery`s physical establishments, we have
proceeded to upgrade our Website and created also a Facebook page to
inform all our devoted customers about our existing or new cheese products,
interesting traditional recipes with cheese using only the finest
ingredients, as well as the chance to contact us electronically to let us
know about their ideas, questions or even provide their own recipes to be
included in our website. Our cheese products traditional homemade recipes
have survived and flourished throughout time and represent until this day
the signature recipes of the Cyprus diet and a significant part of the
Mediterranean diet as well.
 Today, the Achnagal Creamery has been transformed into a modern operation,
housed at a newly built facility in Cyprus which fulfills HACCP and European
Union requirements for producing cheese under safe and clean conditions.
Together with its sister and family-run dairy company Eleftheriou Bros Farms.
 Achnagal is ready to take on new markets, while ensuring the best possible
hygiene and quality for its products.
