COMPANY INFO...
We are an Uruguayan agribusiness company devoted to the production import and export of Seeds, Grains and Agrochemicals. We are situated in the Capital of Uruguay (Montevideo), in order to operate all around the country. With 1,5 million agricultural hectares and a temperate climate with 1200 mm annual of rains splitted homogeneously all year round (without a dry season) our country is geographically, logistically and climatically the ideal place for high-quality agricultural productions due to the high cultural level of our farmers and the wealth of our lands. All these factors position us as the Mercosur's forage seed production land. Currently our Country is the world leading exporter of Bird's-foot Trefoil (Lotus Corniculatus) and one of the greater exporters of Annual Rye Grass, two of the species that since 1962 we were pioneers in exporting from Uruguay to the world through Pedro Roberto Pick and PESACO as well as supplying the Uruguayan domestic market with different forage seed species through the "Direccion de Abastecimientos Agropecuarios" (a govenment's agency). It was in those years that our aim was that Uruguay should access the international markets rather than depending on the imports of Forage Seed. Today we are proud of being the promoters of this change. To achieve the requirements of these markets we brought foreign technicians, who allowed us to achieve the know-how to supply the high quality standards requested overseas. This factor Ieaded us to specialize in the production and commercialization of Seeds and Grains. Nowadays, with the specialization of the technology carried out to the farms, we want to be your production partner aiming at achieving the privelege of both producer and consumer.
THE REGION
URUGUAY: AN AGRICULTURAL COUNTRY
Uruguay is one of the four countries that comprise the MERCOSUR, together with Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The "MERCOSUR" (Mercado Común del Sur) is a market of 225 million inhabitants with the highest income per capita of the continent and a GDP over USD 630 billion.
Due to its geographical location, Uruguay acts as a maritime and terrestrial link of communications among the countries of the MERCOSUR, especially ARGENTINA and BRAZIL, which responds to its geographical insertion between the richest and more developed regions of these 2 countries. Supported by the agility of its financial services, the wealth of its lands and the dense road and of telecommunications network our country functions as an easy access to the central axis of the agribusiness in the Mercosur and its projection toward other regions and countries of the world. Uruguay possesses a highly literate population of 3,3 million inhabitants with the highest income per capita of the continent and a high cultural and professional capacity when compared to the rest of the South American countries.
It is in this way that the Mercosur finds in Uruguay its better gateway, that is to say, the ideal platform to start agribusiness in the region towards the rest of the world, supported at the same time by its long economic and political stability.
