Hand Crafted
Based in the beautiful Columbia River Basin, AJ's Edible Arts, Inc. specializes in hand crafted mustards, sauces, dry mixes, and other fine gourmet food products. Thanks to our location, we have an array of some of the finest produce and gourmet food ingredients in the world available to our kitchen. All of the fresh produce used in our products is provided to us by our local farmers whom we have built relationships with over the past 15 years.
Fresh Local Ingredients
When the business began in 1989, and off and on for the next 8 years, Alice Jones sold her products along side many local farmers at the Pasco Farmer's Market. Over the years, Alice and her partner Juli Massingale have been able to build many relationships with local vendors and farmers. This, along with being active members of several different food and public service associations, has enabled them to build many strong relationships throughout the Columbia Basin. These relationships have provided them with valuable feedback about product quality, production processes, and choice of produce.
As a woman owned business, we feel it is important to be active members in the community and maintain membership in the local Soroptomist chapter. Alice Jones is also on the advisory board for the Pasco Commercial Kitchen Project.
About Us
Located in Pasco, WA, AJ's Edible Arts is conveniently situated in the heart of the Columbia Basin. The Columbia Basin area is home to some of the finest agriculture in the United States. We recognize the importance of quality and freshness in creating fine food products, and every fresh produce product that makes it into AJ’s product line is grown right here in the Columbia Basin.
When AJ’s Edible Arts was starting out, the first place that we sold our products was the Pasco Farmer’s Market. Many growers in the area frequent this farmer’s market, and through our active participation in the market, we have built great relationships with many local produce farmers. Through the building of these close relationships, we are able to acquire fresh produce of the finest quality and include them in our products.
The creative mind for AJ’s, is Alice Jones (AJ). Alice is active in the community and is a member of several public service groups, including her charter membership and current role as the Region 2 Director with the Washington Specialty Foods Association.
Production
We recognize that fresh, high quality ingredients make for great finished product. By making all of our products here in our FDA Certified kitchen facility by hand and carefully monitoring the production and packaging process, we are able to ensure that our customers get finished product of the highest quality.
We select our produce at harvest time while it is peaking in both nutritional content and flavor. Our busiest time of the year are around harvest time. Our Walla Walla Sweet Onions are harvested in July and our Italian and Presidential plums in September. Once harvested and shipped to our facility, we begin the processing. Once the produce is cleaned and processed, it is quickly frozen to be included in the following year's mustards and sauces.
