In 1978, Akif Kucukbay founded Kucukbay Oil Industries, Inc. in Turkey; a family owned and operated business supplying the Turkish domestic market with premium specialty cooking oils. For three decades the Kucukbay family has devoted their lives to the oilseed and olive-groves industry and produces an excellent array of edible oils under their own brand name: Orkide.
Currently managed by second generation family members (Chairman Ahmet Kucukbay and vice Chairman Halil Kucukbay), Orkide has seen worldwide commercial success—and now has branch offices in both Japan and the US.
Orkide is Turkey’s largest edible oils and vegetable fats manufacturer and one of the world’s leading brands of edible oils. It refines, stores and ships in excess of 365,000 metric tons (3.1 million barrels) of specialty oils each year to discriminating customers in over 80 countries. Orkide supplies many of the world’s largest food processing companies as well as small and medium sized micro-markets.
